Pakistan Health Research Council (PHRC) is an autonomous public sector research organization, striving to undertake its major functions of promoting, organizing and coordinating health research in the country. The council with its head office at Islamabad has established 13 research centers in the public sector medical institutions. It has been assumed that the major health research capacity lies in those institutions, and that by assisting and facilitating their health research efforts the council will fulfill its objectives of establishing the role of knowledge in improving the health status of people of Pakistan.
Main objectives of the council are to:
- Organize, coordinate and promote scientific research in various disciplines of medical sciences and public health
- Link health research to the socio-economic development plans of the country
- Advise the Federal and Provincial governments on all matters related to medical research and health issues.
